An elegant victorian wedding at Montreal Racket Club.

Victorian Christmas wedding

Emma & Frazer met at McGill college during their studies. They spent countless nights at the Montreal Racket Club and their only wish was to get married and party one last time at their favorite club. A tiny venue, located on a quiet street downtown Montreal. Our main challenge, transforming this masculine victorian house in an elegant wedding venue.

I met with Emma and Frazer over zoom a little bit before Christmas 2021. It was love at first sight. I was cosy in my condo in Montreal, they were snuggling in their apartment in Boston. I got to learn their story: they met at McGill, he was Emma's best friend's neighbour in the dorms. She moved from Toronto to be with him in Boston. And now, they were getting married!

Everybody at the club thought they were crazy. We were crazy. And when ÀI got the chance to see it for the first time, I understood. The Montreal Racket Club is a Victorian house frozen in time. A perfect place for a man cave. Over 3 stories 5 tiny staircases, carpet everywhere and a racket court.

Getting everybody in would be tight. BUT, the place was indeed full of charm and beautiful. A few Fraser fir candles, Flourish and Knot's magic hand a few additional tables and we were in business.

One of the first thing they mentioned when I asked about their dream wedding as: we want to get married at the Montreal Racket Club. I had never heard of it before, and was intrigued. They explained: it is a Gentleman's club with a racket court. Frazer was a member of the Montreal Club and is now a member at the Boston's club. They spent many many nights here during their college years and this place has a special place in their heart and they want to share it with their loved ones.

The real deal came to the main event of the night. The dancefloor. It was agreed that the best spot would be on the racket court. With its 70 something feet high ceiling, black carpet and black walls it was a bunker. OR was it a blank canvas? With the help of the best team, we were able to turn it around completely and make it magical. With the perfect lighting, the sumptuous Christmas trees and an amazing band.

It truly was the victorian Christmas wedding Emma and Frazer dreamed of.

But, it did say it was going to be a challenge. not only to make this place wedding ready, but to fit they 225 guests in.

A big thank you to all our amazing teams that helped us make Emma & Frazer's dreams a reality
